Harry Potter Bar Crawls

Several cities across Canada are hosting bar crawls. Dart Frog Events posted about the crawls for all cities involved. Fredericton, New Brunswick; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Thunder Bay, Ontario; and Kelowna, British Columbia, are all the cities listed over several days. Tickets start at $30, but guests can upgrade their purchase to include a Wizards Package of sorts. Depending on their crawl of choice, guests will get a House shirt, an Order of the Phoenix shirt, or a Death Eater shirt. Packages will include your bar pass, the shirt, and several goodies to enjoy through the night and after the event. The packages cost $35. Check out the Dart Frog Events page for a full list of dates, times, and ticket availability.

Durham Comic-Con

Comic-Con is headed to Durham, England! The event is set for March 1. Actors from Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Doctor Who are scheduled to show at the convention. This will be the first time Comic-Con makes its way to Durham, so be sure to grab tickets to witness the occasion. Colin Baker (the Sixth Doctor from Doctor Who), Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley from Harry Potter), and Clem So (Tong from Exodus to Shanghai) will all make appearances. Rankin announced he will be offering autographs, chances for selfies or photo ops, Q&A sessions, and opportunities to “come and chat.” Tickets for Durham Comic-Con start at £6 for a day pass and are available now.

Málaga FreakCon

Spain’s beautiful southern region of Málaga will again be hosting its annual FreakCon. The manga, anime, comic, and video game convention is expected to reach as many as 35,000 guests this year. In 2019, the event attendance reached over 30,000 people. Big stars to look for this year include Daniel Portman (Podrick Payne from Game of Thrones), Natalia Tena (Nymphadora Tonks from Harry Potter), and Devon Murray (Seamus Finnigan from Harry Potter), all of whom are scheduled to make appearances. FreakCon will take place on March 7 and 8 at the Palace of Fairs and Congresses on Spain’s Costa del Sol. Tickets are 8€ for a day pass or 15€ for a two-day pass.

Witchcraft and Wizardry Detective Day

For this event, think Harry Potter meets Clue meets a scavenger hunt across your city because that’s exactly what this is. CluedUpp Games is an organization that plans “large-scale, outdoor gaming experiences” for players. For Witchcraft and Wizardry Detective Day, simply download the CluedUpp app, find your city, find a team, and get playing! There is a game being hosted in Sacramento, California, on March 21, 2020, and the mystery will surely be worth solving. Teams can be between two and six players, and only one ticket purchase is required for each team. These outdoor excursion adventures are hosted in hundreds of cities worldwide, so don’t feel bad if you can’t make it to Sacramento. A full list of available cities can be found on the CluedUpp website. Prizes will be awarded for Fastest Team, Best Fancy Dress (inspired by witches and wizards), Best Team Picture, Best Team Name, Best Little Detective Witch or Wizard (for children), and Best K-9 (for dogs).

Harry Potter Meets Henry VIII in South Florida

This next event is a Renaissance festival – but definitely not your average Renaissance festival. South Florida’s Ren-Fest is a comedy-centered and wildly inaccurate representation of medieval times. The Henry VIII–era weekend will have some of the expected ye old activities, such as turkey legs, jousting, and sword fighting. Just don’t expect the accuracy to go any further than that. There is a section of the festival for adults, which includes an “R-rated” comedy special, for which tickets are $35 per person. Starting on March 22, the event will span over seven weekends, all with different themes.

Viking Warriors (Feb. 15–16)
Steampunk-Themed Time Travelers (Feb. 22–23)
Heroes and Villains (Feb. 29–Mar. 1)
Swashbucklers and Sirens (Mar. 7–8)
Highland Fling (Mar. 14–15)
Harry Potter (Mar. 21–22)

Florida Ren-Fest general admission tickets are on sale now, priced at $27.50 for adults and $11.50 for children.

The Weasleys Reunited in Dallas

Fan Expo Dallas announced that several actors who portrayed members of the Weasley family will be attending the convention. Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), James Phelps (Fred Weasley), Oliver Phelps (George Weasley), and Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) will be together once again. The convention is scheduled to be in Dallas, Texas, from March 27 to 29. Tickets for single-day admission start at $25 for an adult and $10 for a child. Multiple-day, premium, and VIP tickets start at $90 per person and go to $449 per person. To see a full list of celebrity appearances, check out the Fan Expo Dallas website.

Join in some family fun with Harry Potter Night, hosted by Kaleideum in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. According to its website, “Kaleideum is an interactive museum of arts, sciences, and exploration.” Integrating innovation, creativity, and a little magic is what the Harry Potter Night is all about. Attendees will have the chance to interact with live animals, such as snakes and owls, have some butterbeer, and enjoy the fun of an early April Fool’s Day. Harry Potter Night is scheduled for March 28 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets start at $10 for members of Kaleideum and are $12 for nonmembers.
