Ron’s Top 11 Comedic Moments

Throughout the seven books and eight films, Ron had some fantastic moments in the series. Some of his best lines and scenes are when he is being funny. Keep reading for my top 11 of Ron’s comedic moments.

Ron vs. the Broomstick

Although he eventually went on to become a fantastic Keeper, Ron’s first Hogwarts interaction with a broomstick did not go well.

Follow the Butterflies

One of the funniest moments during Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is when Ron is forced to endure his fear of spiders. This unexpected quote right before they go into the Forbidden Forest is particularly good.

Ron’s Howler

— STEALING THE CAR, I WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN SURPRISED IF THEY’D EXPELLED YOU, YOU WAIT TILL I GET HOLD OF YOU, I DON’T SUPPOSE YOU STOPPED TO THINK WHAT YOUR FATHER AND I WENT THROUGH WHEN WE SAW IT WAS GONE —” (CoS 88)

I love how this was done in the films. Rupert’s face just absolutely makes this scene.

Tapdancing Spiders

Ron’s arachnophobia is pretty well known and is portrayed wonderfully here. Plus, I love how Harry just went along with it.

Dress Robes

Poor Ron. In both the films and books, he got really terrible robes in this installment, but watching his face when he sees himself in them was incredible.

Tea Leaves

And from now on, I don’t care if my tea leaves spell die, Ron, die — I’m just chucking them in the bin where they belong.” (OotP 718)

Ron really didn’t like Divination, but it did result in some of his best lines.

Dance Lessons

McGonagall’s instructions combined with Ron’s awkwardness when he is forced to dance with her (and Fred’s, George’s, and Harry’s faces) add to this great humorous moment.

Divination Predictions

‘Aaaaah,’ said Ron, imitating Professor Trelawney’s mystical whisper, ‘when two Neptunes appear in the sky, it is a sure sign that a midget in glasses is being born, Harry….’ (GoF 201)

Unfortunately, the moments when Harry and Ron make up their ridiculous Divination predictions weren’t included in the films.

Ron as a Prefect

‘I’ll make Goyle do lines, it’ll kill him, he hates writing,’ said Ron happily. He lowered his voice to Goyle’s low grunt and, screwing up his face in a look of pained concentration, mimed writing in midair. ‘I… must… not… look… like… a… baboon’s… backside….’” (OotP 189)

Hermione and Ron’s prefect story line was another thing that was cut from the films, which is such a shame, because this quote really shows off some of Ron’s wit.

Love Potion

‘I love her [Romilda Vane],’ repeated Ron breathlessly. ‘Have you seen her hair, it’s all black and shiny and silky… and her eyes? Her big dark eyes? And her—‘ (HBP 392)

This was done well in the books but even better in the movies. Rupert’s portrayal as a love-drugged Ron was absolutely hilarious.

That’s My Girlfriend

Although the movies changed Hermione and Ron’s first kiss, the films still included a great Romione Room of Requirement scene. This statement in the midst of the seriousness and drama combined with Ron’s facial expression when he ran back to his friends was great to see.
