MinaLima’s Art of the Block Contest Goes Global as Blocketeering

by Brittany Bennett · August 10, 2020

MinaLima, the talented graphic artists of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts artwork and films, has expanded its Art of the Block contest across the globe under a new name, Blocketeering.

This contest was previously open to United States contestants only, but the global expansion is here! Held by MinaLima Los Angeles, the contest encourages participants to use their favorite plastic interlocking blocks or bricks to create an original piece in one of eight categories, including magical worlds, architectural wonders, fantastic creatures, mummies, dinosaurs, mechanical marvels, robots, and movie magic. Each submission must integrate one element of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). These submissions should highlight creativity and aspiration for creating new things.

Miraphora Mina, a cofounder of MinaLima, shared her excitement for the contest.

The competition seeks to combine creative imagination and artistic expression with the technical rigour of STEM.

Eduardo Lima, another cofounder of MinaLima, spoke about his thoughts on this summer activity.

Start building today. This is the perfect summer activity at home for all ages; you are invited to enter the Blocketeering™ contest, build a masterpiece, and win!

To enter, contestants must submit one photograph of their complete work to the Blocketeering website. The deadline for submissions is September 1, 2020. Blocketeering curators at MinaLima will be the judges and choose the winners on October 1, 2020. Each winner will receive a Blocketeering T-shirt and an art print from MinaLima. The winner from each age group will be displayed online, and some might even be displayed in the Blocketeering official exhibit!

This is definitely a contest you don’t want to miss out on. The creative possibilities are endless. Will you be participating in this contest? Let us know and good luck!
