Social Media Roundup: Giving Thanks

by Sarah Wylde · November 29, 2020

Welcome back! It is once again time to catch up with some of the stars of the Wizarding World in this latest edition of MuggleNet’s Social Media Roundup! During the past two weeks, there’s been Harry Potter rewatching, a few podcast announcements, Thanksgiving wishes, love for four-legged friends, and more.

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), which is annually on November 20, honors the lives and memories of transgender people who have been murdered due to acts of anti-transgender violence. Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley) shared his support of the LGBTQ community and called out the UK government, which cut bullying projects geared towards LGBTQ kids in school.

During a recent Harry Potter rewatch, Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) took the time to pose during a Malfoy-versus-Potter scene for the House points count. Point for House Slytherin!

Bonnie Wright also shared information about Wild, an eco-friendly deodorant that she likes to use. The company plants two trees with every purchase. We love that her favorite scent is lavender.

It says something about us here in England that we have a special place in our sporting hearts for, arguably, the greatest footballer that ever lived… who knocked us out of the World Cup by punching the ball into the goal.

That cheat prospered and deserved to. #MaradonaRIP

Oliver Phelps shared his choice for best Christmas movie: Rocky IV! What do you think? Is it a Christmas movie? Let us know in the comments below.

Rocky IV is one of the best Christmas movies.
It is also the best Movie soundtrack in any category.

Speaking of the holidays, November 26 was Thanksgiving in the United States. Wizarding World stars Ron Perlman (Gnarlak), Jason Isaacs, and Jamie Campbell Bower (young Gellert Grindelwald) took to their social media accounts to express their thanks. We hope all those who celebrated had a wonderful and safe day.

Among the many things for which I am grateful, there is nothing more profound than the simple return to decency, empathy, and human kindness. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Wishing all Americans a day where thanks are truly felt for the important things

– The daily sacrifice of so many to save lives or help them pass with love

-The arrival of new leaders intent on building harmony

-The clear power of masks#Thanksgiving

— Jamie Campbell Bower (@Jamiebower) November 26, 2020

Loving life with dogs, Bonnie Wright shared a picture of her adorable dog, who has the bluest eyes. Meanwhile, Ron Perlman adopted a new dog named Harrington, who was rescued and has now found his furrever home. And after being away from Tom Felton for one day, Willow showed all the excitement of being reunited.
