The Amazon Prime Show You Should Be Watching Based on Your House

by Gretchen Roesch, Lucy Demuth · December 8, 2020

Scrolling endlessly through Amazon Prime looking for a new show to watch? You could keep wandering aimlessly through the digital categories, or use the Sorting Hat to help you find the perfect show. Your House might be the best indication of your next favorite show. Here’s the right Amazon Prime Original for you based on your Hogwarts House.

Gryffindor:

The Man in the High Castle
This show is based in a dystopian world where the outcome of the Second World War was different and Germany and Japan occupy America. Juliana, not knowing what her sister got herself into before she died, goes on a journey to discover the truth, knowing full well she could meet the same end. She and her friends are brave and daring, willing to risk everything for the chance at freeing their country from the Nazi regime.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Mrs. Maisel is a true Gryffindor. She is an ambitious woman going against everything that is expected of her as a 1950s housewife to pursue her love for stand-up comedy. The underdog in the industry, she fights very hard to earn her spot and not give up, just like a true Gryffindor. Also, if you love the ’50s style, this is an excellent TV show for you.

Hufflepuff:

The Boys
This is a non-traditional show for a Puff, but it’s actually perfect for them. The characters in The Boys group strive for justice for their loved ones against murderous psycho superheroes, set in a universe where superheroes are part of everyday society and are seen as celebrities. The creators dared to do something not seen in this genre by showing what truly could go wrong when a superhero abuses their powers.

Good Omens
A Puff would love to root for the amazing angel/demon duo – I mean, who wouldn’t? They are an unlikely pairing but work amazingly well together. While there are times these two would go against each other to please their sides, they always end up back together, loyal to each other to the very end.

Ravenclaw:

Goliath
This show is a legal thriller where truth has become a commodity and where you, as the audience, do not know who to trust. It has great plot twists and a great main character trying to get justice against the rich and powerful people while also solving a murder and keep himself alive. Jam-packed with action and mystery, it’s a show that any Ravenclaw would love to help solve.

Upload
Upload is kind of a kooky look at the next evolution of technologies and how life might look after death in the future. The intellectual ability and creativity of the application creator is everything a Ravenclaw values. While the show does have a hint of Hufflepuff vibes, the creative way real life is mixed with typical game-like features is incredible and something a Ravenclaw would love to explore.

Slytherin:

Carnival Row
Set in a Victorian-like era with mythical creatures, a murder mystery, and the aftermath of war, this TV show is one for a Slytherin. The main characters demonstrate cunning and resourcefulness to keep themselves alive but also have the ambition to change social injustice.

Fleabag
This is a different type of TV show where the main character breaks the fourth wall (characters talk to the audience), but it never pulls you out of the story. Fleabag is a comedic story about a woman trying to navigate life. While Fleabag always has good intentions, sometimes her choices do end up hurting her family and friends. You never know if you hate her or love her, but she’s a character a snake will be intrigued by.

Be sure to check out all of the TV shows on Amazon Prime with their free 30-day trial.
