Sorting the Lakewood Six from the “Scream” TV Show into Hogwarts Houses

by Stacey Lannigan · May 9, 2021

SPOILERS AHEAD: PROCEED WITH CAUTION

When it comes to the stories that we love the most, it is the characters as much as the plot that holds our attention and affection. Like Harry Potter, the TV show Scream consists of many well-rounded and intriguing characters, and so I decided to Sort them into the Hogwarts Houses I believe best suits them:

Willa Fitzgerald as Emma Duval in

Emma Duval (Willa Fitzgerald)

Emma Duval – Gryffindor

When Emma unwillingly becomes the Lakewood Slasher’s obsession, her seemingly perfect world is turned upside down. Emma is forced to face the shocking truths of her past and attempt to keep those she loves and herself alive, all the while not knowing who can truly be trusted. Emma greatly values honesty and throughout the series grows more self-confident, showing immense courage and bravery in overcoming her fears and even putting herself in danger so that she may save her family and friends. Therefore, it only fits that Emma is Sorted into Gryffindor.

Bex Taylor-Klaus as Audrey Jensen in

Audrey Jensen (Bex Taylor-Klaus)

Audrey Jensen – Gryffindor

While she may be brave like Emma, Audrey’s practical and daring nature makes Gryffindor the House she belongs to. Besides her bravery, Audrey displays a fierce protectiveness over her friends. However, she is often reckless, acting too quickly upon her instincts, such as when she stabbed a boy attempting to prank her dressed as the killer. Much like Ginny in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Audrey’s trusting nature is put to the test when she is ultimately manipulated by the killer, resulting in her becoming more suspicious of those around her. However, once they’ve proven to be worthy of her trust, Audrey holds those she calls her friends in high regard, and her blunt honesty does well to protect them even if it’s not always appreciated.

John Karna as Noah Foster in

Noah Foster (John Karna)

Noah Foster – Ravenclaw

When it comes to surviving a series of nightmarish events, there’s no better person to have on your side than Noah. Tech-savvy Noah can hack into computers and phones, allowing him to aid his friends in discovering the truth. His vast knowledge of all things horror allows him to perceive and navigate through situations in a way that others can’t. However, there are times when his curiosity gets the better of him, and like Hermione, his know-it-all personality isn’t always valued by those surrounding him. Despite how his ramblings gain him mocking comments and snide remarks from others, that doesn’t stop Noah from maintaining his obsessive compassion for the things that interest him. It is therefore my belief that Noah would be Sorted into Ravenclaw House.

Carlson Young as Brooke Maddox in

Brooke Maddox (Carlson Young)

Brooke Maddox – Hufflepuff

When the series first begins, Brooke comes across as shallow and somewhat elitist, and so it may be tempting for many to argue that she should be Sorted into Slytherin. However, as the series progresses, we are provided a deeper insight into Brooke’s character, and I believe that Hufflepuff would be the House she would call home at Hogwarts. Brooke soon proves herself to be a genuinely kind and dependable person who is tenacious, as shown when she grows convinced that her father has murdered her mother. She values loyalty and proves that she is also loyal time and time again, particularly toward her friends and her boyfriend, Jake.

Tom Maden as Jake Fitzgerald in

Jake Fitzgerald (Tom Maden)

Jake Fitzgerald – Slytherin

Jake’s wicked sense of humor can often lack sensitivity, though knowing that doesn’t seem to bother him. His cunning and resourceful side is evident when he successfully manages to blackmail the mayor over some time and can even convince his best friend Will to continue helping him to benefit them both financially. His determination and self-preservation skills see Jake surviving many of the killer’s attacks, even when he gets stabbed. In addition to these traits, Jake is also highly ambitious, his confidence sometimes bordering cockiness as he pursues his desire for success, riches, and his crush, Brooke Maddox. After realizing these traits within Jake, the Sorting Hat would most certainly place him in Slytherin House.

Amadeus Serafini as Keiran Wilcox in

Keiran Wilcox (Amadeus Serafini)

Keiran Wilcox – Slytherin

Joining Jake in Slytherin would be Keiran, who uses his mysterious new boy status to charm his way into Emma’s and her friends’ lives, proving him to be not only charming but cunning as well. Keiran is independent, though his self-reliant nature can sometimes mean he becomes isolated from others. However, he is highly adaptable and manages to blend in well with crowds, giving the impression that he is as innocent as his friends. Furthermore, he also works to gain the authorities’ trust, aiding the police by providing them information regarding the others, displaying that he is also resourceful. He is determined and driven, as can be seen when he continues feigning his love for Emma so that he can kill both her and Audrey in revenge for murdering his one true love.

It’s high time I paid homage to the mighty MuggleNet. Where to start? I love the design, (I currently favour the ‘Dementor’ layout), the polls (I actually voted in the ‘Who’s the Half-Blood Prince?’ one), the pretty-much-exhaustive information on all books and films, the wonderful editorials (more insight there than in several companion volumes I shall not name), 101 Ways to Annoy Lord Voldemort (made me laugh aloud), the Wall of Shame (nearly as funny as some of the stuff I get)… pretty much everything. Webmaster Emerson, Eric, Jamie, Damon, Ben, Matthew, Rachel, Jaymz and Sharon, I salute you.
