Events Roundup: Science Classes, Music Festivals, and Wand-Making

by Aly Kirk · June 19, 2021

The weekend is upon us, and we know you might be looking around for some fun things to do with Dad this Father’s Day. So in honor of the holiday, here are some fun things to do with at least one of your parents this weekend and many more to come. With that in mind, let’s get started on this week’s Events Roundup.

Think Tank: Mad About Science

Have you ever wondered if science and magic could be mixed? Wonder no more. Through Mad About Science, kids aged seven through eleven can now experience making magic of their own. Learn how to mix potions, move objects with wands, and work with crystals. Students who want to take part can attend the lesson on Saturday, June 26 at 3:00 p.m. AEST at the Springvale Library in Springvale, Victoria, Australia. The event is free, but registration is required.

Mad About Science is showing kids how magic and science can be one in the same.

Mystery Wizardry Festival

The first annual Harry Potter–themed electronic music festival Mystery Wizardry Festival is coming to South Carolina. Blend music and magic at this event to enjoy something you’ve never experienced before. Costumes are encouraged. Guests who want to stay for dance parties are required to be 18 years or older, and guests who want to enjoy a delicious adult beverage are required to be 21 years or older. Tickets are on sale now, but the event is expected to sell out, so get your spot while you still can. Tickets start at $40, and the event is set for Friday, July 23 and Saturday, July 24, starting at 8:30 p.m. ET at the Charleston Convention Center in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Let the Wand Choose the Wizard Turning Class

Take a class that not only teaches you the important steps of wand-making but also lets you take your own wand home. Rockler Woodworking and Hardware is setting up shop to let witches and wizards create the wands of their dreams. Classes are held in Orland Park, Illinois, and tickets are $80. Those who aren’t as adept at woodworking can take a beginner class before jumping into the advanced wand-making classes. The class starts on Saturday, June 26 at 1:30 p.m. CDT.

Harry Potter Movie Trivia Night

Do you have what it takes to be a Hogwarts prefect? Team up with your friends and find out. The Sour Barn is hosting a trivia night based on the Harry Potter movies. Trivia teams will go through five rounds of Ordinary Wizarding Level questions to claim their title. Tickets are free, but registration is required to participate. The Sour Barn is located in Wilmington, North Carolina, and trivia night starts promptly at 7:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, June 29.

Take a whack at "Harry Potter" movie trivia to prove you are the best prefect.

That’s all we have for you this week. Check back for more from Events Roundup to see what’s going on near you.

If you’re hosting an upcoming magical event, you can submit it to be included in a future Events Roundup by sending all relevant information to submissions@staff.mugglenet.com.
