A Special 25th-Anniversary Edition of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” Is Coming
Bloomsbury Publishing has just announced the exciting news that there is going to be a 25th-anniversary edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. It looks like an absolute must-have for all Potter fans, and it will only be available to purchase for a year.
The front cover will feature the book’s original artwork from 1997, by Thomas Taylor, that day-one fans will certainly remember. Talk about being nostalgic! There will also be a peelable silver commemorative sticker marking the 25th anniversary of the world’s best-loved book.
However, the back cover will not feature the original generic, pipe-smoking wizard that appeared in the early printings of the book, instead depicting the Dumbledore that appeared as of the 18th printing. Some of the back cover text is not yet finalized either, so an image of the back cover is not yet available.
The book will also have some new bonus content that is not yet finalized, but we can’t wait to learn what it is.
The collector’s edition will be perfect to add to any sort of Potter collection, or even perfect for new readers. New readers will be able to experience the magic almost as if it were 1997, with the original cover and a reformatted, easy-to-read text design.
In addition to these magical features, the hardback book will also have a removable dust cover and will be decorated with hand-drawn Hogwarts crests on the inside pages.
Bloomsbury has a useful page of FAQs for collectors who want to know all the details about this new edition. The publishing company currently doesn’t have plans to rerelease the rest of the series in the same way.
