Welcome to the latest Fan Focus, where MuggleNet introduces and highlights a Wizarding World fan. It is time to meet David, a Gryffindor and Harry Potter cosplayer whose daughters got him hooked on the magical series.
How did you become a Wizarding World fan?
About six years ago, my two daughters were pushing me to watch [Harry Potter and the] Sorcerers Stone, and that is all it took, lol! I was totally hooked and started reading the books. To date, I have read the books 11 times and watched the movies countless times.
If you could have one prop from the set of Harry Potter or Fantastic Beasts, what would it be?
[That would be] Remus’s actual wand from [Harry Potter and the] Prisoner of Azkaban.What is your favorite Harry Potter or Fantastic Beasts memory?
Many, actually. I had a great experience at LeakyCon 2019 in Boston when I was a finalist for cosplay and was on stage with Chris Rankin (Percy) as Gilderoy. I took the stage over!!!! Too much fun.
Have you been to the Wizarding World? If yes, what is your favorite memory? If not, what would you want to do first if you could go there?
Multiple times, as I am an annual pass holder. I have had great memories interacting with many people and really enjoy spending time with kids and their parents talking about the magic of the Harry Potter world.
If you could spend a day with a character from Harry Potter or Fantastic Beasts, who would it be and why?
Remus Lupin, of course – as I cosplay him, I would enjoy learning more about him. In turn, it would be ideal to spend a day with David Thewlis again to learn more about his portrayal of the character.
