Very Magical Mornings: Hermione Granger’s Morning Routine

by Sana Nawaz · January 18, 2022

We all adore Hermione and her know-it-all attitude. She is not only a wonderful person, parent, friend, wife, and so on, but she also becomes the Minister of Magic. Sounds like a stressful job – and it must also be mentally and physically demanding. Being so knowledgeable and smart while also maintaining your mental health does not happen magically; it takes time, love, attention, and dedication.

Here is a list of five things Hermione Granger does every morning to make her days more magical.

This is a picture of Hermione reading.

1. Sleep is not for the weak.

Hermione

We’ve all heard that “sleep is for the weak” and that successful people only sleep for a few hours each night to maximize their productivity. Hermione believes otherwise. A good night’s sleep is essential for having a productive day, and the brightest witch of her age says yes to getting exactly eight hours of uninterrupted sleep each night in order to feel fresh and active the next morning. Also, don’t stay up until 4:00 a.m. because that will waste half of your next day.

2. Mornings are for revitalization.

Hermione's got nice skin

Hermione has a morning ritual of drinking one glass of lukewarm water right after she wakes up because she is aware of the magic of Adam’s ale. Also, have you ever wondered why her skin is always so smooth and glowing? Drinking a warm glass of water first thing in the morning helps flush toxins from your body and boosts your metabolism. Hermione has, of course, done her homework.

3. Yoga for 20 minutes a day keeps the mediwitch at bay.

We all know how important mindfulness and exercise are for our health, and Hermione is no exception. She ensures that everyone at home, including Ronald, forgets about their worries and devotes 20 minutes to themselves each morning. Ten minutes of yogic exercises to strengthen the body and ten minutes of peaceful meditation are all that is required to function actively throughout the day and over time.

4. Today a reader; tomorrow a leader.

This is really a no-brainer. Leaving aside instances of luck having your back, we all know that success is impossible without knowledge, and Hermione takes this very seriously. She reads for half an hour every morning, usually the Daily Prophet to get her daily dose of wizarding world news or the novel she started the night before. In either case, it works perfectly because knowledge is never wasted.

5. Spend quality time with family.

When was the last time you spent an hour with your family without using your smartphone or laptop as a third wheel (like Harry between Ron and Hermione)? Jokes aside, Hermione knows she won’t get this time back and tries to spend as much quality time as she can with her family throughout the day despite their busy schedules. She ensures that they spend time together in the mornings as well, during breakfast and while doing yoga, because love is magic and we should cherish those who love us.

We love how Hermione makes her life more magical by practicing this routine regularly. We are sure it would also help make our days more wonderful if we tried it. Tell us in the comments which part of her routine you would like to incorporate into your mornings, and let us know if you already follow any of it.
