Social Media Roundup: Celebrations and Nostalgia Abound for Wizarding World Alumni

by Kelly Christ · July 10, 2022

We are excited to bring back to MuggleNet’s Social Media Roundup after our hiatus! Over the past several months, Wizarding World alumni have taken to social media to share life updates, exciting new projects, and even a bit of Potter nostalgia.

Congratulations are in order for several alumni who have revealed some exciting news on social media. In March, Bonnie Wright announced her marriage to Andrew Lococo in an Instagram post showcasing their unique wedding rings. Since then, Bonnie has shared more photos on her Instagram that give fans an inside look at the couple’s beautiful ceremony.

Other Wizarding World stars celebrated new milestones for their families as they welcomed new bundles of joy. Jessie Cave (Lavender Brown) shared a photo of her newborn son, Becker Brown, on Instagram in March.

Warwick Davis (Filius Flitwick/Griphook) also shared some important family news on social media. Davis wrote on Twitter that his wife, Samantha, had fully recovered from sepsis and shared a news story from the Sun that detailed his family’s experience. He hopes that sharing their story will spread further awareness of the condition.

This took place a while ago and Thankfully Sam has now fully recovered. I hope her story will stay with someone which will in turn save a life. In these times, when someone’s poorly, it’s automatic to think COVID but please don’t overlook Sepsis. #ThinkSepsis https://t.co/xFlIwULdx6

In addition to family updates, several alumni took to social media to promote recent projects they have been working on.

Jamie Campbell Bower (young Gellert Grindelwald) gave fans an inside look at the hard work that went into the special effects of his buzzworthy role in the fourth season of Stranger Things.

In addition to promoting their own projects, several Wizarding World alumni spread the celebratory spirit by promoting their costars’ projects.

James Phelps (Fred Weasley) showed his support for his on-screen sister as he congratulated Bonnie Wright on her book, Go Gently: Actionable Steps to Nurture Yourself and the Planet, via Instagram in June.

Wright wasn’t the only Harry Potter costar James celebrated on social media. In May, he posted a photo of himself attending 2:22: A Ghost Story, starring Tom Felton.

Joining in on the praise of Tom’s performance in 2:22: A Ghost Story was Stephen Fry (narrator of the British Harry Potter audiobooks), who encouraged his Twitter followers to see the show.

Oh my days! If you can, catch @TomFelton leading an absolutely immaculate cast in this spooky and brilliant chiller. Superbly presented and shockingly good @CriTheatre

Oliver Phelps (George Weasley) shared a photo on Instagram showing his bond with another Potter costar, Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas). The pair reunited for a soccer match in May.
