New Dark Chocolate Frogs Unveiled at Universal Orlando Resort

It is an age-old debate. Which is more delicious, milk chocolate or dark chocolate? Potterheads can have that debate for themselves in regard to the most iconic candy in the wizarding world. According to WDW News Today, Universal Orlando Resort now offers delectable Chocolate Frogs made with dark chocolate.

Chocolate Frogs and the cards paired with them play a significant role in the plot of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. References to them continue throughout the series until Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, where further context is given to Albus Dumbledore’s Chocolate Frog card pertaining to his duel with Grindelwald.

As with other candy brands, the different types of Chocolate Frogs can be distinguished by the coloring on the packaging. While the milk chocolate Chocolate Frog wrappers have gold borders and lettering, the new dark chocolate Chocolate Frogs have a rose gold accent. Not quite a Ravenclaw bronze color but enough of a change in tint to make a visual difference.

The running price for either a milk or a dark Chocolate Frog is $13 while customers can purchase three Chocolate Frogs for $33. With each Chocolate Frog weighing in at 5.3 ounces, is that a reasonable price? In the bundle of three, each Chocolate Frog comes out at $11. Is that worth it? We wonder if Professor Remus Lupin, despite his well-known ardor for chocolate, would be able to afford such an indulgence.
