Revisit Diagon Alley with Candlewick’s New Movie Scrapbook!

Did you love Candlewick’s The Dark Arts: A Movie Scrapbook by Jody Revenson? Then you’ll be glad to know the series is continuing with Diagon Alley: A Movie Scrapbook, which is now available in stores.

Like Candlewick’s previous scrapbook, this one is full of fun interactive elements that bring the chosen subject to life. All of your favorite Diagon Alley shops and locales – from Gringotts to Flourish and Blotts – get their own feature in the scrapbook, and Revenson describes not only the most notable moments from the movies at these locations but also a bit of the movie magic that went into bringing the magical businesses to life (like exactly how many product designs went into Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes!).

The Ollivanders section includes a helpful wand index so you can keep track of student wand designs, while the Gringotts section gives you some Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts of your very own. While they’re just made out of paper, it’s still fun to get an idea of the sizes of the different coins without investing in expensive replicas.

Another feature of the scrapbook I especially liked is this Maurader’s-esque map of Diagon, complete with pop-outs explaining more about each location.

Though Diagon Alley: A Movie Scrapbook may offer little that a seasoned fan or collector doesn’t already know, its innovative design and fun interactive elements make this a great find for younger fans or those of us who can’t resist its charm (pun intended).

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
