Dark Mark Cupcakes
Instructions
Cupcakes
  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Line the bottom of two 12-cup muffin tins with paper liners.
  3. Using an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract. Beat until fully incorporated. Set aside.
  5. In another mixing bowl, combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Add the dry ingredients in three parts with the wet ingredients. Alternate in the sour cream in thirds.
  7. Add the milk and mix until all ingredients are fully blended together.
  8. Scoop or pour the batter into the muffin tins until 3/4 full.
  9. Bake for 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean.
  10. Cool in the muffin tins for a short time. Then transfer to a wire cooling rack.
Decorations
  1. Remove the cupcake from the paper casing and cut small hollows for the eye sockets and mouth.
  2. Knead the fondant and roll out using a rolling pin to a maximum thickness of 1/4".
  3. Cut out a large enough piece of fondant to wrap the entire cake so it is completely sealed. The fondant will hold in place, but be careful not to press too hard and tear the fondant.
  4. Use your hands to sculpt the skull shape.
  5. Place a jelly snake so that it is coming out of the skull's mouth.
  6. Add the features using tubes of ready-colored frosting. Place one dragee on each eye to create the Dark Mark's piercing gaze. Enjoy!
