I’m sure the golden trio would have been a lot happier, and more willing, to hunt down the Horcruxes if they were these delicious cupcakes. With these cupcakes designed after all the dangerous Horcruxes and the symbol of the Deathly Hallows they can be enjoyed at any Potter-themed party!

  • 4 1/2 oz. butter softened
  • 4 1/2 oz. caster sugar Caster sugar is a finer grain of sugar than granulated; you can take granulated sugar and grind it up in a coffee grinder or food processor if caster is not available.
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 1/2 oz. self-rising flour To make self-rising flour, mix 1 cup all-purpose four, 1 and 1/4 teaspoons baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  • 2 Tbsp. milk

Instructions
Cupcakes
  1. Preheat oven to 375F (190C).
  2. Lay out the liners into the cupcake baking try. You can also use nonstick baking spray if preferred.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar together until pale and fluffy.
  4. Whisk the egg using a fork.
  5. Add HALF of the egg into the mixture and mix until even.
  6. Add the rest of the egg and add the vanilla extract. Mix until even.
  7. Sift in half of the flour. Fold into the mixture.
  8. Add the milk and the remaining flour. Fold until well combined.
  9. Spoon mixture into the liners and bake for 12 minutes or until risen and golden on the top.
  10. Allow to cool for 10 minutes on a rack before removing from the tin.
Decorations
  1. Place 1 heaping tablespoon of icing sugar and 1 tablespoon of water into a bowl and mix. You want the consistency of cement for your icing so that it is easy to apply to the cakes.
  2. Add a small amount of your color choice of food coloring. Mix well. Do this for eight different cakes.
  3. Allow the icing to set well and then decorate using the icing pens according to the specific Horcrux or Deathly Hallows symbol.
  4. Allow icing to set. Enjoy!
