Ingredients

  • 3 oz. jello green
  • 3 oz. jello blue
  • 1 strawberry large
  • 3 strawberries small

Instructions

  • Prepare green jello per package instructions.
  • Pour green jello along bottom of a baking dish or glass bowl.
    Jello Bowls
  • Chill for 2 hours or until set.
  • Prepare blue jello per package instructions.
  • Pour blue jello on top of green jello.
  • Chill for 2 hours or until set.
  • Wash and destem strawberries.
  • Cut all strawberries in half vertically. Set aside 2 halves of largest strawberry.
  • Cut smaller strawberry halves into strips with tip of each strawberry pointing toward you. Each half should yield 3–4 strips. Set strips from edge of each half (with a rounded side) in a separate pile from rectangular strips cut from center of each half.
  • Assemble strawberry giant squid on cutting board. To make head and body, situate one half of largest strawberry so that wide end is toward you. Connect wide end of second half with wide end of first so that point is facing toward you. Use rectangular strips to create limbs by connecting two rectangular strips and one rounded-edge strip at the end. You should create five limbs in total.
    Strawberry Giant Squid
  • Place strawberry giant squid on surface of jello.

Notes

  • The strawberry giant squid can be in the blue jello layer. Prepare and place the strawberries on top of the green jello while preparing the blue jello. Be careful since the strawberries will likely slide. It is best to only use a small amount of the blue jello first, allowing that to chill and hold the strawberries in place, before pouring the rest of the blue layer.
  • Any flavor of green or blue jello can be used. This recipe uses green lime jello and berry blue jello.
  • The strawberry giant squid can have longer limbs. Add more rectangular slices until the desired length is achieved.
  • If creating separate single servings, a strawberry giant squid should be made for each serving.
  • Blueberries, strawberries, or raspberries can be added before pouring either jello layer to include additional fruit if desired.
