HBO Eyes Quick Turnaround for Season 2 of Harry Potter Series
HBO’s Harry Potter reboot is still years from premiering, but the network is already preparing to keep the momentum going.
What’s happening
Chairman and CEO Casey Bloys said Thursday that writers are actively developing Season 2 while production continues on the first season, which began filming over the summer.
“We’re going to do whatever we can to not have a huge gap,” Bloys told reporters, noting that the series’ young cast and viewers alike benefit from a steady release cadence.
He emphasized that the show’s scale, including extensive visual effects, makes turnaround challenging, but the goal is to avoid long breaks between seasons. Recently fans of popular shows like House of the Dragon and Stranger Things have complained on social media about the long gaps between seasons.
Behind the scenes
J.K. Rowling visited the U.K. set this week to check in on the project’s progress. Filming is underway at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden as well as on location around the country.
HBO has not yet announced a premiere date, but the series is expected to launch in 2027.
