MinaLima

MinaLima is composed of Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima, who designed and created the graphic universe of the Harry Potter films. In 2009, they formed their own design studio, naming it MinaLima. They have continued their involvement in the Harry Potter franchise with numerous design commissions for the Wizarding World, including creating the graphic elements for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley at Universal Orlando Resort. In 2015, MinaLima began to design the graphic props for the Fantastic Beasts series. The following year, Mina and Lima launched House of MinaLima – a gallery and store that showcases their graphic works – first in London and then in other locations worldwide.

House of MinaLima™

House of MinaLima™ opened on June 3, 2016, in the West End of London near Palace Theatre, the home of the London Production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. It featured three floors of exhibition space, plus a gift shop. It was originally going to be a three-month popup but quickly became a permanent shop. On September 1, 2020, House of MinaLima™ moved to a new location in Soho, London. It has two public floors for the immersive gallery and gift shop and a floor with a design studio. House of MinaLima™ is at 157 Wardour Street, Soho, W1F 8WQ, and is open from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Tuesday - Saturday. Entry is free, but due to the pandemic, there is a 20-guest capacity and timed entry.

House of MinaLima™ - New York is the first permanent House of MinaLima™ in the U.S., located in the three-story, flagship Harry Potter™ Store in New York City's Flatiron District. Harry Potter™ Store opened on June 3, 2021, at 935 Broadway, New York, NY 10010, USA, and is open seven days a week.

House of MinaLima™ - Osaka

House of MinaLima™ - Osaka opened on April 12, 2019, as a year-long popup. It has since become a permanent House of MinaLima™ and the first to be opened outside of the United Kingdom. The shop is located at Nishitani Building, 1-10-11 Minami-Horie, Nishi-ku, Osaka 550-0015, Japan, and is open from 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. seven days a week.

Biography

Eduardo Lima and Miraphora Mina are both graphic artists who have done a great deal of work illustrating for the Harry Potter franchise (books, movies, etc.) over the years. Mina graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 1987, and Lima is a 1997 visual communications graduate from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. These two artists started working together in 2001 to help create and establish an illustrated universe for the Harry Potter film series.

After working with each other for some time and becoming such great collaborators, Lima and Mina formed their own design studio, MinaLima, in 2009. Both artists have continued to be involved in the Harry Potter franchise, creating commissions for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park in Orlando, Florida. More recently, in 2015, MinaLima started designing for the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

In The Magic of MinaLima, readers find two decades' worth of insight into the creative process as well as some fun interactive elements. The book covers iconic artifacts from the Harry Potter films such as the Marauder's Map and the Black family tapestry. It allows readers a closer look at smaller details such as the butterbeer labels used in different countries for the Fantastic Beasts films. There are also fun stories from the set of the films, like the time they had to rush to remake the Hogwarts letters because they were too heavy for the owls to carry.
