“SpeakBeasty” Episode 137: “Corvus the Friendly Ghost”

Celebrate Halloween with the return of SpookBeasty! On this extra-spooky episode of SpeakBeasty, hosts Amy, Ann, Helene, and Shannen discuss ghosts and hauntings, traditional and otherwise, found in the Fantastic Beasts series. 

Although we don’t see any ghosts in the Fantastic Beasts films, that doesn’t mean the characters are any less haunted. Some are haunted by their past; others are trailed by the memories of loved ones. Trauma, regret, and guilt all follow these characters around, driving their stories forward. 

Leta Lestrange and Yusuf Kama are both pulled back into the past by their shared toxic family, as well as being connected by baby Corvus and his fate. The pair of half-siblings also shares a connection with Newt Scamander. All three carry with them the weight of family expectations. These “hauntings” are just a few that our hosts found in the plot of the series. 

In this week’s “Newtcase,” our hosts share ghost stories that are unique to their part of the world.  Learn about a haunting in a Chicago cemetery, a spooky piece of road known as Devil’s Elbow, the ghosts of Disney World, and some gruesome stories from Minnesota history.
