Fan Art of the Week: “Tri-Wizard Champion”

This week’s submission titled ‘Tri-Wizard Champion’ comes from Elaine and was sketched with black and white charcoal. It features Harry in a gloomy setting – (like in this notable movie poster) – ready to face his next challenge.

Noah’s Notes: The sketch is very good, and while it’s a rendering of the original poster, Elaine’s piece seems to bring something new. Besides expertly capturing the shining light reflected on Harry’s cape, she also smudges charcoal on the sides to create the murky cloud-like effect. However, the texture is different than in the poster, and the dark parts in the background are stringy, smooth, and wispy. They build into a rather evil-looking scene, as opposed to the background of the original picture in which the clouds are merely clouds, empty and somewhat artificial. Great work Elaine!
