Daniel Radcliffe gives “Horns” Red Carpet interviews, plus Radio 1 appearance

by Sophie Reid · October 21, 2014

Daniel Radcliffe is in the UK this week promoting his upcoming film Horns. Horns is due to be released next week (October 29 in the UK and October 31 in the US), so Daniel is busy talking to the media about the film. We already announced that Daniel is due to be on The Jonathan Ross Show this coming Saturday, but Daniel spoke this morning on BBC Radio 1 to “Breakfast Show” DJ Nick Grimshaw.

The full audio from the show is available on BBC Iplayer for those of you in the UK who missed it, and hopefully some clips will be released soon. Meanwhile, you can check out the pictures that Nick posted on Instagram:

Daniel also spoke to the press at the Horns premiere on Tuesday night. In an interview with London Live, Daniel talks about splitting himself between New York and London, playing the “antihero“, and getting the part in the film. The video is only available in the UK, but you can watch it here if you qualify.

In an interview with the Belfast Telegraph, Daniel spoke about the effect that music has had on him and how important it was to this film:

Music has always been something I use to prepare quite a lot. And because this character’s a DJ, music is very present in the film, and so I just made a couple of playlists for him.

I normally make at least one, but I think this one stretched into two CDs, and it was stuff like Perfume Genius and Radiohead.

There’s a band called Place [t]o Bury Strangers, which is not a band I would particularly recommend to everybody, but their world and their sound is what I felt Ig’s world sounded like – chaotic and noisy.

Daniel also talked about visiting the Star Wars set:

I was so excited ’cause I literally just watched the original Star Wars movies very recently, so I was like a new fan going on set. But I got to meet Harrison Ford and have a chat, and he was lovely. It was great.

Most people would be excited about seeing the Star Wars set, but I went out because all my friends were working there ’cause it’s the Potter crew; they’ve basically just moved onto that, so I was going to see all of them.

Further, Daniel commented on the news that David Yates has been announced as the director of the first Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them adaptation:

At the moment signing on to another three seems crazy to me; it’s a lot to take on soon, so full respect to David for tackling it. I’m not involved. I’m going to go […] watch it with everyone else; it’s going to be good.

In another interview, Daniel also gave some advice to fellow Potter star Rupert Grint, who recently started his first Broadway run, saying that the best tip he had was to not “read the reviews.”

He further said,

I saw Rupert on stage last year in London, and he was fantastic. It was brilliant to see him, and you know doing stage work was the making of me as an actor, and it continues to be. Learning in a different way and being in a different place is going to be incredibly valuable.

And check out some photos from the Horns premiere in our gallery below, including some of Daniel with his co-star in the film, Juno Temple.

Are you planning on seeing Horns when it’s released? Let us know!
