Social Media Roundup: Celebrating Friends and Family!

by Shelby Dale DeWeese · August 12, 2018

Welcome back to another edition of Social Media Roundup! This week, we’re celebrating friends and family. From cast reunions to family reunions to welcoming new members to the family, your favorite wizarding world stars have been celebrating the important relationships in their lives.

Over the first weekend in August, a number of Harry Potter alumni reunited at For the Love of Fantasy, a fan event in Edinburgh, Scotland. Tolga Safer (Karkaroff’s aide) posted a photo of himself along with Stan Yanevski (Viktor Krum), Hugh Mitchell (Colin Creevey), Louis Cordice (Blaise Zabini), Sean Biggerstaff (Oliver Wood), Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley), and Josh Herdman (Gregory Goyle).

Yanevski even had a chance to brush up on his Quidditch skills.

In London, three generations of Malfoys united at a recent performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Helen McCrory (Narcissa Malfoy in the Potter films) met James Howard (Draco Malfoy in Cursed Child) and Jonathan Case (Scorpius Malfoy in Cursed Child).

Katie Leung (Cho Chang) is part of a new short film called Leading Lady Parts, which is the first in a series aimed at shining a light on the portrayal of women in the media and the challenges women face in the workplace across all industries. As part of the promotion, Leung celebrated one of her real-world family members, Fiona Yeung, in the “Who Is Your Leading Lady?” campaign.

Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) welcomed a new member into her family by adopting a puppy named Billy Blue!

It was recently announced that Game of Thrones actress Natalie Dormer is slated to narrate the audiobook of Harry Potter: A History of Magic. To welcome Dormer to the Harry Potter family, Pottermore released a video of the actress being sorted into her Hogwarts House.

Did you expect Dormer to be sorted into that House? She seemed surprised herself! Until next time, that’s a wrap on Social Media Roundup!
