Role Call: Grindelwald to Take the Stage, New Guests Announced for Expo Patronum!

by Aimee Krenz · January 25, 2015

In this week’s Role Call, Grindelwald takes the West End, Molly Weasley takes the East, and Expo Patronum attendees take the ultimate grand prize as even more special cast and crew members are announced for MuggleNet Live’s April event in London!

Jamie Campbell Bower has taken on a role in his first West End musical production of Bend It Like Beckham. Bower will portray Coach Joe, according to the production’s Twitter post:

Fans of Twilight are in for a treat… @Jamiebower will be playing Coach Joe in Bend It Like Beckham, May 2015! pic.twitter.com/o2iBANlryD

A new trailer has been released for Indian Summers, starring Julie Walters. We previously reported on Julie’s role in the 10-part series that will air next year on Channel 4 in the UK. You can read the synopsis below and then check out the trailer!

The series centres on Simla, a veritable little England in the foothills of the Himalayas where the great and good of the British ruling elite flock for the summer months. While India strives for change, the British cling to power and prejudice, enjoying a luxurious lifestyle at the expense of the locals.

For those following what Daniel Radcliffe has been up to lately, you may have heard that he is a fan of the Sharknado series and has stated that he would love to be in the third installment. This week actress Tara Reid hinted on radio 2FM that he may have a cameo, saying

He was like, ‘I would definitely, definitely be in the third one’ – so if he keeps his word then I think he’s one person that you can probably count on as a cameo.

According to Reid, if Dan did make a cameo, she thinks it would be “legendary” if he would portray Harry Potter in the new installment. We will post if and when this cameo is ever confirmed, so stay tuned!

A new trailer for an animated short has appeared online, starring John Hurt. The Alchemist’s Letter is slated to premiere during the 2015 film festival season beginning in May. You can read the synopsis and view the trailer here:

When Veridian, an estranged young man, receives his late alchemist father Nicholas’ inheritance (voice of Academy Award nominated John Hurt), he is exposed to the ill-fated reality that his father built a tumultuous gold-making machine powered by his own memories. The film takes viewers on an enchanted journey through the vessels of the machine in exploration of the contents of the alchemist’s most precious memories, all in an attempt to give Veridian one last life lesson and save his relationship with his daughter (voice of Eloise Webb) from following down the same fateful path.

Mark your Netflix calendars! Two films we’ve all been dying to see are going to be available this February for viewing at home. Tom Felton‘s In Secret will be available on February 18, while Gary Oldman‘s Robocop will be available on February 21. Speaking of Gary…

We’re seeing more buzz about Gary’s Child 44, set to debut April 17, 2015. Oldman plays the role of Gen. Mikhail Nesterov, who we finally see in the new poster and image from the book-to-film adaptation released this week:

Set in Stalinist Russia, it’s the tale of Leo Demidov, a senior member of the secret police (Tom Hardy), who is framed for treason by a colleague (Joel Kinnaman) and exiled to a remote outpost, where he unearths a series of mysterious murders and vows to catch the elusive killer, despite powerful members of the government who wish to silence him.

Tom Felton’s Against the Sun has also been making the rounds on social media, with the film’s Facebook and Twitter sites releasing stills and behind the scenes videos from the set. The movie was released on January 23 and is now available to rent or purchase here. Stills from the film, a synopsis, and the trailer can be seen below:

In one of the most harrowing true stories of World War II, three US Navy airmen crash land their torpedo bomber in the South Pacific and find themselves on a tiny life raft, surrounded by open ocean. No food. No water. No hope of rescue. Against incredible odds, these three virtual strangers must survive storms, sharks, starvation – and each other – as they try to sail more than a thousand miles to safety.

If you tuned in to our LIVE Q & A session this morning, you may already know, but we announced some pretty spectacular guests will be joining us at Expo Patronum. In case you missed the latest guest announcements or you have questions about how the Expo will work (panels, autographs, photos, meeting your favorite actors, etc.), check out our call this morning with MuggleNet Senior Staffers Keith, Kat, and Claire, along with our very special Expo Patronum guest, Warwick Davis!

There is still time to get registered to take part in our first MuggleNet Live! event, so don’t delay!
