“Potter” Spotted at London Book Fair 2016
From April 12-14, London, UK was home to the annual London Book Fair (LBF). Now in its 45th year, it typically welcomes more than 25,000 publishing professionals from over 120 countries.
Among the stands were Scholastic and Bloomsbury, US and UK publishers of the Harry Potter series; Little Brown, which publishes the UK editions of the Cormoran Strike series; and Templar Publishing, showcasing the Harry Potter coloring books.
Scholastic
Scholastic featured a dominating graphic of the special rehearsal edition script book of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I & II, due to be released on July 31, which generated a high level of buzz from both Scholastic employees and visitors.
Bloomsbury
Bloomsbury’s booth included a large Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets illustrated edition display, alongside copies of the recently released slipcase edition. With the October 4 impending release of the illustrated edition, there were preview copies available, showing as-yet-unseen graphics, including gorgeous full-color drawings of Rubeus Hagrid and Dumbledore’s phoenix, Fawkes.
Also featured were the 2014 UK children’s editions, a large-scale mock-up of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and a “coming soon” brochure, featuring the upcoming Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire slipcase editions.
Little Brown
Little Brown’s stand incorporated the approaching paperback release of Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith, available in the US April 19 and the UK April 21, the rear inside cover of which states “Robert Galbraith’s Cormoran Strike series is currently being adapted for a major new television series for BBC One, produced by Brontë Film and Television.”
Templar Publishing
Templar Publishing’s illuminated display showcased the as-yet-unreleased in the UK Harry Potter Poster Coloring Book, Harry Potter Magical Places & Characters, and Harry Potter Postcard Coloring Book, which are due to be released June 30.
MuggleNet is very excited about the impending releases throughout 2016 and into 2017, with the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and the 20th anniversary publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
