“Fantastic Beasts” Book Coming to Audio CD!

by Sophie Reid · May 13, 2017

The brand new Eddie Redmayne-narrated version of the trio’s school textbook, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, first published back in 2001 for Comic Relief, was released exclusively on Audible a couple of months ago. The release coincided with the updated textbook being published in book form.

We instantly fell in love with Redmayne’s reading – obviously, we couldn’t imagine anyone better to read the book than Newt Scamander himself. If you need a reminder of why he’s so perfect, check out this video here.

But for those of you without Audible, don’t despair, because Bloomsbury UK just announced that the audiobook will be released on Audio CD – perfect for those of you who like to have a physical copy.

Narrated by Eddie Redmayne, this is the first audio book edition of Scamander’s textbook ever to be released. Having starred as Newt Scamander himself in the movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, who better to narrate this Hogwarts Library book [than] one of the wizarding world’s most famous Magizoologists? Eddie’s film credits include The Danish Girl, My Week with Marilyn, Les Misérables and The Theory of Everything, for which he won a Golden Globe, an Academy Award and a BAFTA for Best Actor.

The CD version will be released on June 26 and is available to pre-order now from Bloomsbury for £13.49 (retailing at £14.99).

Bloomsbury is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone with some exciting new releases, including these gorgeous House editions of the book and a box set of the Hogwarts Library books. There’s certainly plenty to keep us busy – and our Harry Potter collections ever growing!

Will you be adding this to your collection of audiobooks? Let us know in the comments!

Did You Know

The first review of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was given by Alice Newton, the daughter of the founder of Bloomsbury, at age 8: “The excitement in this book made me feel warm inside. I think it is possibly one of the best books an 8/9 year old could read.”
