Arthur Weasley’s Guide to the Muggle World

by Mikaela Renshaw · May 7, 2018

Hello, my fellow witches and wizards. Arthur Weasley here! I have recently gone out on an expedition to the Muggle world and now I am here to share the experience with all of you. On this trip, I was able to visit many places, but for the sake of time, I will only describe the most fascinating ones

1. The London Underground

My first stop was the London Underground. Now, I’ve heard tales of this place, and even been to it once, but I’d never ridden by myself before. I had a little trouble getting on. Muggle money is so confusing. But after a while, I figured it out and purchased something called an Oyster card. It was a little piece of plastic that I could wave in front of the machines and they would just beep and let me through. I have no idea how it works, but I’m determined to find out.

2. The Louvre

On a recommendation from one Hermione Granger, I stopped in Paris. It’s a lovely city, but my favorite part of the trip was my visit to the Louvre. Paris has an underground system of trains very much like the London Underground that I used to get there. Once there, I learned something incredible. It turns out that Muggles love to stare at paintings, which might seem to make sense at first, until you remember that none of their paintings moves. But they don’t care! There were huge crowds of people just staring at pieces of still canvas. The crowd was especially large around the painting of this one woman. I assume she must have been rather important. It’s really a pity she couldn’t talk.

3. The Smithsonian

After Paris, I decided to take a Portkey to America. I’d never been there before, so I flew into the capital. And since I’d had so much fun with the museum in Paris, I decided to visit the largest museum in America. It was incredible. One part of it had models of all these flying machines. Imagine that, Muggles flying! They even managed it without using any magic. There wasn’t a broom in sight. I even learned that Muggles have flown to the Moon. It really makes you wonder what could happen if we could properly mix our magic with Muggle technology.

4. Disneyland

After visiting one side of the country, I thought it would be worth visiting the other. And after reading a few very fascinating tourist pamphlets, I decided to visit a place called Disneyland. Disneyland certainly lives up to its reputation of the happiest place on earth. I spent the whole day just wandering around marveling at all the things Muggles have created. They have these strange rides that almost feel like you’re flying. They can control fire and water. It’s quite amazing. Most of this is just due to the ingenuity of Muggles, but there seems to be some actual magic there as well. They’ve apparently gained the trust of all sorts of magical creatures that I saw working in the park. I even saw a giant mouse!
