Review: “Harry Potter” Wanted Poster Notebook
Back in April, we told you about a prototype marketing poster that broke the world record for being the most valuable Harry Potter poster to ever be sold at auction. The poster sold for $17,925 and featured a screaming Sirius Black from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on a copy of a magical notebook, which features a patented lenticular from British award-winning innovation company Wow! Stuff. This image, which I’d seen a video of numerous times, is really something else in person!

When I was in middle school, I had a binder with a simple lenticular image on it, and I spent countless hours making the image move back and forth while avoiding any and all tasks remotely related to schoolwork.
The lenticular image featured on this notebook is like that but so. much. better. Instead of a simple two- or three-image motion, moving this notebook back and forth shows the full scope of Sirius Black’s wanted poster, creating a fluid and almost seamless movement. I can almost hear him screaming at me as the image moves. It’s siriusly so cool.
This journal is hardcover bound and comes with a handy elastic closure to keep people from reading your evil plans – erm, I mean, your secrets.
The first thing I did – after making Sirius Black appear to scream and yell at me for a few minutes – was check to make sure that the journal wasn’t haunted.
CONSTANT VIGILANCE
When no fragment of a soul offered a reply, I proceeded to write a bit on the page, just to get a feel for the notebook. As you can see in the images below, my Paper Mate InkJoy gel pen and my standard ballpoint pen made an impression on the page but hardly bled through – which is a total win. I had expected the permanent marker to bleed through, but I included it just for comparison’s sake.
As an avid journaler, I can say that this is a great product. While I prefer my journals to have lines, those who are more artistically inclined may enjoy the free form of the blank pages! The binding is sturdy, the lenticular image is phenomenal, and the pages are thick enough to hold up to my heavily inked pens! I would be interested to see how it held up to watercolor and other types of ink.
