Ezra Miller Is Not a Hippie

Less than two weeks out from the November 16 release of Crimes of Grindelwald in the United States and United Kingdom, we’re getting a flurry of news and content every day. The film’s very own Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone) is the cover star of GQ Style’s “Holiday 2018” edition.

In the cover story, Miller discussed meeting fans, living on a farm, his take on hippies, and more. Oh yeah, and during part of the interview, he delivered three goat kids. You read that right: Ezra Miller lives on a farm in Vermont with goats and chickens. Why?

For what I’m trying to do now, this is where I have to be. On a city street, I’m sort of a messy Muppet. […] I think for a lot of artists, [we’re] sensitive. Urban environments are grueling.

When GQ Style writer Allie Jones visited Miller’s farm and observed him help one of his four goats, Noisette, give birth, he realized the writer might consider him a hippie. Miller disagreed.

Hippies were white people who came from privilege at a time of a lot of important movements and took a lot of drugs and made a lot of noise, which drowned out the very valid sound that was being made by a lot of really important movements at that time. And then they all sold out and became… our parents.

Miller also talked about the fact that while he doesn’t like being around cell phones, he does like meeting fans at events.

It’s almost awkward, the position that I’m in, of being on the other side of some imaginary line. That’s the line to dissolve, right? It’s an illusion that anyone is more involved in a world of fantasy than anyone else for worldly material reasons, like being employed to work on the project.
