Take a Journey Through “Harry Potter” with New e-Books from Pottermore

The Harry Potter: A History of Magic exhibitions at both the British Library and the New-York Historical Society Museum and Library were truly magical experiences for those who were able to attend, taking visitors deep into the heart of the wizarding world.

The exhibitions provided insight into the history and lore that helped inspire J.K. Rowling and spawned two books that gave those unable to see the spectacle firsthand a glimpse inside: Harry Potter: A History of Magic and Harry Potter: A Journey Through a History of Magic.

An audiobook for A History of Magic, narrated by Natalie Dormer and released last year, further expanded on the exhibition with in-depth curator interviews and other behind-the-scenes information. Now, as Pottermore Publishing announced today, we’ll have the opportunity to journey even further into the history of the wizarding world with a new nonfiction e-book series – Harry Potter: A Journey Through… – adapted from the audiobook.

 

 

The series features four bitesize reads, each themed by Hogwarts lessons, and will take you back in time once again to learn about the traditional folklore and magic at the heart of the ‘Harry Potter’ stories, accompanied by some new, gorgeous line drawings from London-based artist Rohan Daniel Eason.

The four e-book shorts include:

  • Harry Potter: A Journey Through Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts
  • Harry Potter: A Journey Through Potions and Herbology
  • Harry Potter: A Journey Through Divination and Astronomy
  • Harry Potter: A Journey Through Care of Magical Creatures

 

 

Pottermore says the shorts will give readers a chance to “absorb the colourful characters and curious incidents of the real history of magic in a more compact form – perfect for the train or whatever Muggle transport you prefer.” The e-books will additionally feature notes, manuscript pages, and sketches as seen in A History of Magic.

The shorts are initially scheduled for publication in English, French, Italian, and German, with the first two – Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts and Potions and Herbology – slated for a June 27 release. They can be preordered now at Amazon, Amazon UK, Apple, and Kobo. The remaining two e-books will follow soon after.
