“Hogwarts Tournament of Houses” Wins in Two Categories at Children’s & Family Emmy Awards

Hufflepuffs had much to be proud of after their decisive victory in last year’s Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses, but the show as a whole continues to have its day in the sun. Hogwarts Tournament of Houses, which premiered at the end of last November to honor the 20th anniversary of the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone film release, won in two categories at the inaugural Children’s & Family Emmy Awards.

The awards show began in Los Angeles on Saturday, December 10, and the first ceremony focused on celebrating achievements in creative arts. Hogwarts Tournament of Houses found its place in the festivities by winning in the Outstanding Lighting Design for a Live Action Program category. Other nominees for the award included Donkey Hodie, Endlings, High School Musical: The Musical – The Series, and Sesame Street.

 

 

Dame Helen Mirren received accolades during the second ceremony on Sunday night, which centered on performance categories. Fans will well remember Mirren’s facilitation of the four-part competition series, a role she navigated with considerable skill and charisma. In a 2021 interview with the show’s executive producers, Robin Ashbrook raved over her talent, issuing exactly the sort of prophetic statement that would have made Professor Trelawney proud.

“She’ll probably win an Emmy for this as a host just to complete her collection,” he commented at the time. He was right. Mirren secured a much-deserved win in the aptly named Outstanding Host category. The other hosts nominated for the honor were Tab Time‘s Tabitha Brown; Recker Eans, Dylan Gilmer, Mykal-Michelle Harris, and Olivia Perez of The Kids Tonight Show; Jack McBrayer of Hello, Jack! The Kindness Show; and Coyote Peterson of Coyote Peterson’s Wild Field Trip.
