“Harry Potter: Magic Awakened” Has Begun Soft Launch in Select Countries
2023 continues to be a big year for fans as Harry Potter: Magic Awakened goes into soft launch in multiple countries. The highly anticipated card-based RPG video game was released in China back in 2021, but its global release has since been delayed. The soft launch, which opened on March 31, will give some gamers a bit of relief from the long wait.
According to the official website, the soft launch “is a great time to explore the game, discuss your experiences and provide feedback,” which will be put toward improvements. Magic Awakened is now available to play in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Israel, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, South Africa, Sweden, and Switzerland, though it is promised that new countries will be added over time. The Magic Awakened team was also careful to specify that the soft launch version does not represent the final game product since they are still “actively evaluating various features and content that will be included in the official global release of Harry Potter: Magic Awakened.” Those who are not currently residents of the previously listed regions can preregister to receive updates.
In case the anticipation was still bearable, Magic Awakened has also recently released a new “Characters and Story” trailer. The short video puts the viewer in the story, starting with meeting Hagrid and receiving that all-important Hogwarts letter. The trailer teases customization options, new characters, and an artistic style sure to enchant.
Speaking of characters, fans will be delighted to recognize some familiar faces within the game as well. Notable alumni include Professors Flitwick and Slughorn. Hagrid will reprise his role as the Care of Magical Creatures professor, while Professor McGonagall is now headmistress of Hogwarts. Gamers will be quick to note that the new head of Gryffindor House is the entirely deserving Neville Longbottom. Professor Longbottom also teaches Herbology in the game.
