Role Call: Turkey Tirade Edition!

by Aimee Krenz · December 6, 2013

David Bradley (Argus Filch) has been keeping pretty busy. Not only did he join the voice cast for The Mandate, as Lord High Admiral Suvarov and is in a science-fiction role-playing game Ghosts, whose trailer , along with a press release from Gamasutra, was released a few weeks ago, but he also joined the cast of FX network’s The Strain. In the upcoming series, Bradley will play Professor Abraham Setrakian, replacing previous actor John Hurt (Garrick Ollivander) in the role of a Holocaust survivor who owns a pawn shop and as the article from The Hollywood Reporter indicates, may be the only one with answers to a viral outbreak that results in vampirism. The series was rumored to begin filming in Toronto in late November and is aiming for a July 2014 premiere.

Another HP alum who is keeping her career burning is Clémence Poésy (Fleur Delacour). In an interview with Variety, Poésy reveals her full schedule, which includes a lot more than just acting roles. In addition to her work in both French and British productions for film and television, she’s also a brand ambassador for Chloe perfume and the clothing line G-Star, and she rocks out as a backup singer for Miles Kane. Her next project, however, is a film with Michael Caine that made its US debut last month, called Last Love. It is now available for viewing on iTunes and Amazon Instant Video.

As confirmation of Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska’s return to a sequel to Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, we here at MuggleNet can’t help but wonder – does this mean that Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) will also be signing on to reprise her role as the Red Queen? When last we saw her big-headed character (remind you of anyone, Percy?), she was being shackled to the Knave of Hearts and banished to the Outlands. We will continue to keep an eye on this story and report any updates as they become available.

Gary Oldman joins a music video for David Bowie? If this rumor turns out to be true, Oldman is appearing in a video for one of the tracks for Bowie’s new album, The Next Day. In addition to this, you may have seen Oldman’s comedy sketch for late night host Jimmy Kimmel, where Oldman describes what he thinks of American Thanksgiving. He throws an epic tantrum in the middle of the set and dons a pretty epic moustache! Watch the video below, and please be aware that it contains some adult language.

With A Young Doctor’s Notebook having premiered on the Ovation network in the US in the last few months and the second season now showing in the UK (see the newly released photos of Dan dressed as a clown here!), we can only hope that the hint of a third season will come true. In an interview with What’s on TV, Dan’s co-star, Jon Hamm, discusses his experience on-set for the second season and Dan’s waltzing skills.

Dan’s by far the more talented dancer – he’s been on Broadway. The last time I had to do any dancing was at high school, and it was as embarrassing then as it is now. But it was very funny and a perfect example of the tone of the show – irreverent, funny, sad, macabre.

As for the third season…

Well, never say never, but the way it ends is a little bit tricky to continue… but anything’s possible when you’re dealing with myself and Dan…

Genevieve Gaunt, best known to Potter fans as Pansy Parkinson in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, has taken on the role of a character based on Amanda Knox, the college student who was convicted and then acquitted of the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher. Filming took place in Tuscany in mid-November. No word on when the film, The Face of an Angel, will debut.

While not really casting news, we did get our hands on a great still of Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) from the international trailer of Noah.

Ian Kelly, who played the role of Hermione Granger’s father in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, will be honored in Cambridge’s 2014 edition of Who’s Who. The world-famous reference book contains thousands of biographies of some of the most talented and most celebrated people, written by the subject themselves. Each person is selected to join by invitation only and is required to write their own biography. Kelly lists his Cambridge birthplace in his biography and also mentions his children and cooking as some of his favorite recreations.

In a global rebranding move for Bacardi rum, Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) will be the voice behind the new campaign, which will focus on the history of the brand “during Prohibition, Cuban exile, war and revolution.” The feature campaign will air on television around the world.

Composer John Williams has signed on to compose the new Star Wars film by J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg’s Indiana Jones 5. His credits include the first three Harry Potter films and the upcoming film The Book Thief. If you’ve ever wondered how the scores for the films have been created, Williams gives us a little insight.

The process begins with me writing a passage and rejecting it, writing another passage and liking some part of it and trying to keep that. It becomes a process in my mind, like sculpting. You keep cutting on something, and eventually, it reveals itself to you.

Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) is currently slated to take part in a new eighteen-day movie shoot, filming for her role in Dynamite: A Cautionary Tale. She tweeted the following in support of the film:

Feelin' not-that-excited about Christmas cos this shoot is SO GOOD & I don't want it to end! @illwilledFX @IANMHARDING @CraniumEnt #Dynamite

The indie crime film will focus on a family man and dope fiend working within the underground porn business in 1968 New York City, running books and films to delivery points and mob headquarters around the East Coast while trying to keep his family in the dark.

Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore) has a new role as John Burke in the ITV film Lucan, currently in post-production. Based on the disappearance of the titular character, this true story brought to life speculates on what may have led up to the disappearance of the aristocrat over 40 years ago after a nanny in his employ was found murdered. No current release date has been announced.

Finally, two of our favorite Order members are hitting the tour buses. Both Brendan Gleeson (Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody) and Natalia Tena (Nymphadora Tonks) can be seen in upcoming music festivals in 2014. Gleeson will tour Ireland with his new folk band beginning in January as part of a Music Network initiative, funded by the Arts Council. Tena’s six-piece band, Molotov Jukebox, briefly put a few of their shows on hold for an acting role but have since announced that they will participate in the Shrewsbury Folk Festival in August.

That’s it for this edition of Role Call! What project are you most looking forward to seeing? Let us know by commenting here, our Facebook page, or on Twitter!

Potter Quote

“My brothers, my sisters. The clock is ticking faster. We who live for freedom, for truth, and for love. The moment has come to share my vision of the future that awaits if we do not rise up and take our rightful place in the world. Where we wizards are free. Aurors, join me in this circle, pledge to me your eternal allegiance, or die.”
