March 4 – J.K. Rowling answered questions from fans during an event on World Book Day.

April 16 – A paper titled “Harry Potter: The New Prozac” claimed Harry Potter helps counsel young readers about depression and anxiety.

May 15 – J.K. Rowling’s official website was launched.

May 31 – The film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was released.

June 25 – Works on the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire started.

August 15 – J.K. Rowling attended the Edinburgh International Book Festival and read an excerpt from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
