Fan Art of the Week: “The Mermaid”

by Keith Hawk · September 20, 2011

This week’s Fan Art depicts a portrait of a merperson from the Black Lake titled: ‘The Mermaid’ by MuggleNet reader Kate. You can view the full size of this art piece right here.

Noah’s Notes: Considering the setting of this portrait (under water), the blue to green tones are perfect for the portrait, coupled with the closeness of the face make the viewer feel as if they too are swimming in the cold water. Kate used chalk pastels to create darker shades within the mermaid’s face – around the eyes and on the cheek, specifically – but she also used them to expertly create the wispy colorful hair. Nice work Kate!

You can learn how to submit your own Harry Potter fan art to us as well as view our archives by heading over to our Fan Art Section. Perhaps you can have your art piece highlighted on our front page just like Kate. See you next week!
