Emma Watson to play thief in Coppola’s “The Bling Ring”

According to a new article by Reuters, Emma Watson has just signed on to play the role of a fashio-and-fame-obsessed teen who, along with a group of friends, track celebrities’ whereabouts online and then break into their homes and steal designer clothes and possessions. This is quite a difference to the heroine role of Hermione Granger she portrayed in the Harry Potter series.

The Bling Ring was written by Sofia Coppola based on a true story and will also be directed and produced by Coppola. Sofia stated, “I am excited about the young cast we’re assembling and I’m looking forward to shooting on location here in Los Angeles.”

Emma Watson’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower will be released this coming Fall, and also has signed up to star in David Yates’ Your Voice in My Head as well as possibly starring as Belle in Guillermo del Toro’s Beauty and the Beast.
