Alohomora! Roundup: Chapters 4-6 of “Philosopher’s Stone”

Deep in the bowels of MuggleNet there is a new section brewing, where fans and staff of the site have joined together to discuss our favorite book series and explore it one chapter at a time. This past week, the new Alohomora! section has been bustling as fans have re-read and analyzed chapters 4-6 of Philosopher’s Stone.

Here’s a taste of some of the great content we received this week:

Two new articles from Alohomora! user skgai: one that claims Petunia really loved Harry in the beginning, and another that analyzes the symbolism of Hagrid as a “Man of Nature.”

Another two opinion pieces written by user Hippogriff: the first seeks to interpret the real significance of the Hogwarts motto, “Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus”, and the second wonders whether the trio’s heroic actions throughout Philosopher’s Stone are really plausible, given they were eleven-year-olds.

And finally, we received a quibble from Snapescape comparing the umbrella-wielding Hagrid to… Mary Poppins? (You have to read it to believe it!)

Alohomora! is part podcast, part forums, and part awesome. If you would like to join this fandom-wide initiative to re-read the Harry Potter series, become a member of our community right here.
