Rupert Grint confirmed to make stage debut in “Mojo” this fall

Rumors that Rupert Grint will make his stage debut this coming fall have been confirmed – the Harry Potter actor is set to star alongside Brendan Coyle and Ben Whishaw in a production of Mojo. Mojo is described as a dark comedy which takes place at a Soho nightclub during the late 1950s. Grint will play Sweets, a pill-popping associate of a murdered nightclub owner.

The play will be directed by Ian Rickson, who staged the original production of Mojo in 1995. Rehearsals will begin in the middle of September, and the play will begin its run on October 26 at the Harold Pinter Theatre. Rickson has said of casting Rupert:

I’d seen the Potter films with my daughter and always thought Rupert was truthful as Ron Weasley. There’s something ordinary and centred about him, and in this world of Mojo you want that grittiness.

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
