Fan film “The Greater Good” shows devastating duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald

A new fan film depicting a crucial moment in Dumbledore’s life has recently been released. The Greater Good depicts a dramatic beach scene where once-friends Grindelwald and Dumbledore duel over their ideological differences, Grindelwald insisting that the Muggles should be subjugated to the will of magical people and Dumbledore arguing otherwise. This duel, as fans of the series know, tragically results in the death of Dumbledore’s beloved younger sister Ariana.

A fun watch for fans, The Greater Good not only gives us a poignant view of one of the most important moments of Dumbledore’s life but also glimpses of the great man he will one day become, as evidenced by his insistence on the importance of love and his impressive magical abilities. Aberforth also has his role to play in The Greater Good, and it’s a real treat to see the interaction between all three Dumbledore siblings.

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
