Five “Fantastic Beasts” Questions I Have
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them introduced us to a brand new wizarding community and a bunch of new characters. We learned a lot of new information about them, but I still have questions about what happened that need to be addressed in the next movie.
1. What happened to Graves?
At the end of the film, it was revealed that Gellert Grindelwald was masquerading as Director of Magical Security Percival Graves all along. There’s so much material to be explored here: How did he do it? What happened to the real Percival Graves? When did Grindelwald take his identity? Was the real Graves working with Grindelwald?
2. What happened to Newt at Hogwarts?
We know he was expelled from Hogwarts for endangering human life, but what were the circumstances surrounding the incident? Also, when Hagrid was expelled, his wand was broken into several pieces, so why does Newt still have his?
3. Who is Leta Lestrange?
Apart from the fact that Leta and Newt were close friends at Hogwarts, we know nothing else about her. Clearly, she made an impact on him since he is still carrying her photo around, but who is she? Is she any relation to Bellatrix or Rodolphus Lestrange? What happened between her and Newt? Where was she when Newt was in New York?
4. What’s going to happen to Jacob?
At the end of the movie, Jacob’s memory of anything magical was erased. However, his reaction to seeing Queenie suggests he might remember something. Does that mean he’s going to be reunited with everyone in the next film? Will he be able to keep his memories if he does? What happens between him and Queenie in future installments?
5. What happened to Newt’s family?
We know that his brother is a war hero, but that’s pretty much all we know of Newt’s life at home. Does he have any other family? Where are they? What do they think of Newt and his life?
