Castium Revelio: Casting News Rising!

by Mary Wojcicki · August 26, 2018

Welcome back to another week of MuggleNet’s Casting News, your source for the latest information on what our magical alumni have been up to! Are you ready to find out what’s new this week? Castium Revelio!

Harry Potter
Our first update this week is about Martin Bayfield who played Robbie Coltrane’s double as Hagrid. The former police officer and rugby player is now putting on a chef’s hat, having joined the new season of Celebrity MasterChef in the UK! The Evening Standard profiled Bayfield and his fellow contestants for the season’s first week on the air this past week.

Celebrity MasterChef is airing on BBC One.

Looking for a thriller to watch? David Bradley’s (Argus Filch) The Lodgers is now on Netflix, writes JOE.ie.

1920, rural Ireland. Anglo Irish twins Rachel and Edward share a strange existence in their crumbling family estate. Each night, the property becomes the domain of a sinister presence (The Lodgers) which enforces three rules upon the twins: they must be in bed by midnight; they may not permit an outsider past the threshold; if one attempts to escape, the life of the other is placed in jeopardy. When troubled war veteran Sean returns to the nearby village, he is immediately drawn to the mysterious Rachel, who in turn begins to break the rules set out by The Lodgers. The consequences pull Rachel into a deadly confrontation with her brother - and with the curse that haunts them.

If you’re not scared enough, Bradley can also be seen in the film Await Further Instructions. Bloody Disgusting reports that the sci-fi thriller will be released both in theaters and on video on demand on October 5.

The story revolves around the Milgram family, who have gathered to celebrate Christmas, only to find a mysterious black substance has surrounded their house. Something monumental is clearly happening right outside their door, but what exactly – an industrial accident, a terrorist attack, nuclear war? Descending into terrified arguments, they turn on the television, desperate for any information. On screen, a message glows ominously: ‘Stay Indoors and Await Further Instructions’…

We now have a poster for Alfonso Cuarón’s (director, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) latest film, Roma! Flickering Myth has published the image of the minimalistic poster for the film, which will premiere on Netflix on December 14.

ROMA follows Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio), a young domestic worker for a family in the middle-class neighbourhood of Roma in Mexico City. Delivering an artful love letter to the women who raised him, Cuarón draws on his own childhood to create a vivid and emotional portrait of domestic strife and social hierarchy amidst political turmoil of the 1970s.

If you’re looking forward to seeing The Little Stranger, which stars Domhnall Gleeson (Bill Weasley), Build Series NYC has tweeted that fans can catch a sneak peek at the film by watching their interview with Gleeson, Ruth Wilson, and director Lenny Abrahamson on their website!

Fans soon will be able to purchase Star Trek: Discovery’s first season on DVD and Blu-ray, according to Den of Geek! The show, which stars Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy), is a continuation of the Star Trek franchise. The DVD/Blu-ray release date for Star Trek: Discovery Season 1 will be November 13 in the United States and Canada and November 19 in the United Kingdom.

Bill Nighy (Rufus Scrimgeour) can be seen in a clip from his film The Bookshop, as posted exclusively by Entertainment Tonight! Check it out on their website!

The Bookshop is now playing in theaters.

Cursed Child
A trailer for the BBC Two thriller Black Earth Rising, which stars Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger), has been released by the BBC!

'Black Earth Rising' is a new international thriller about the prosecution of international war crimes and the West’s relationship with contemporary Africa written, directed and produced by BAFTA-winner Hugo Blick ('The Honourable Woman', 'The Shadow Line').

Check out the trailer below!

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child playwright Jack Thorne has a new four-part television drama called The Light, and Variety reports that both Channel 4 and Hulu have commissioned it!

‘The Light’ will focus on the repercussions of a catastrophic disaster that befalls a community in a small town in Wales, claiming many lives and threatening to tear the community apart as grief gives way to anger and blame. The series forms a loose trilogy with the writer’s previous four-part dramas for Channel 4 and Hulu, ‘National Treasure’ and ‘Kiri’.

That’s all for this week’s Casting News! Stay tuned for even more great updates next week! Until then, be sure to tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
