NBC Gives Series Order to Comedy “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins” Starring Daniel Radcliffe

Back in March, we reported that Daniel Radcliffe had been cast in Tracy Morgan’s NBC comedy pilot, which was then a yet-to-be-titled NBC pilot staring Tracy Morgan. It has now been confirmed that the pilot has been picked up for a series, and the series has a title: The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins.

According to Variety, the series pickup was announced as NBC prepares for its annual upfront presentation in New York, and the show reunites key figures from NBC’s beloved sitcom 30 Rock. Morgan, who earned an Emmy nomination for playing Tracy Jordan on that show, stars as the title role, Reggie, “a disgraced former football player… on a mission to rehabilitate his image,” while Radcliffe will play Arthur Tobin, “an award-winning filmmaker who moves into Reggie’s mansion to film an immersive documentary about the former star running back.”

Morgan and Radcliffe join the cast alongside Erika Alexander (American Fiction), Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live), Precious Way (Heist 88), and Jalyn Hall (Till).

30 Rock writers Robert Carlock and Sam Means are co-creators and executive producers of the new show, with Tina Fey also executive producing. Carlock is producing through his Bevel Gears banner, with Eric Gurian, David Miner, and Rhys Thomas also as executive producers.

Radcliffe’s involvement marks a reunion with the 30 Rock creative team, having previously collaborated with  Fey, Carlock, and Means when he appeared in Netflix’s interactive film Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend.

For fans of Daniel Radcliffe, it’s another chance to see how far he’s come since his days on Harry Potter as the Boy Who Lived. His post-Potter career has been defined by bold and often bizarre roles in projects like Miracle Workers, Swiss Army Man, and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Whether you’re a fan of comedy TV or of Radcliffe’s work, it seems like The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins is is going to be a must-watch addition to NBC’s fall lineup this year.
