Win tickets to see “Monty Python Live (Mostly)”

by Callum Lloyd Thomas · July 16, 2014

The British comedy troupe Monty Python, of which Potter alumnus John Cleese is a member, performed several shows in London this year for the first time in more than three decades. An encore presentation of the show, Monty Python Live (mostly), will be broadcast to select UK theaters on Sunday, July 20.

Monty Python first hit our screens with The Flying Circus, which saw 45 episodes broadcast over four BBC seasons between 1969 and 1974. The Pythons were an instant success and became the face of British comedy. They went on to achieve overwhelming international acclaim with the huge success of films such as Monty Python and the Holy Grail in 1975, Life of Brian in 1979, and their final film, The Meaning of Life in 1983.

In more Monty Python news, a 50-foot fiberglass dead parrot was unveiled at London’s Potters Field on Monday, to mark the forthcoming TV screening of Monthy Python Live (Mostly). The world famous dead parrot sketch, in which John Cleese attempts to return a deceased Norwegian blue parrot to a pet shop, is featured in the current farewell show and will appear when UK channel Gold screens the final performance on Sunday. You can see a photo below:
