Five of Our Favorite Fandom Pairings: Draco Malfoy Edition

by Rachael Dechert · August 17, 2015

Fan fiction is great because it explores new possibilities outside of canon. In Draco’s case we get to pair him with characters whom he would never pick for himself. Through careful planning, writers make these unlikely pairings seem believable.

1. Draco/Luna

Druna

Druna is a very sweet ship. Putting Draco’s seriousness next to Luna’s wackiness makes for a fantastic adventure. Both of them went through so much during the war, and I’m sure that the time they spent in Malfoy Manor created some sort of bond between them.

2. Draco/Hermione

Dramione 2

Who else could keep up with the brightest witch of her age? Dramione is a very powerful pairing, and the people who ship them are very passionate. They really are a well-matched couple. In canon, these two would never be together, but thanks to fan fiction we can now explore this possibility.

3. Draco/Pansy

Dransy

Unfortunately, we did not get to see much of this relationship in the books. Most people don’t marry their high school sweethearts, so it isn’t surprising that they didn’t end up together, but I would love to know more about their relationship and why they broke up. Was it the war? Did they just grow apart? Fan fiction authors take these questions and turn them into wonderful stories.

4. Draco/Ginny

Drinny

Imagine Draco at a Weasley family picnic. With the help of some creative Drinny fan fiction, you won’t need to imagine it. Ginny Weasley is such a strong character that she needs to be paired with someone who is just as strong as she is. Draco is a perfect fit. Maybe their families could finally make up and move on after these two get together.

5. Draco/Harry

Drarry will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the first pairing that I found after discovering the fandom. Sentimentality isn’t the only reason why I love this ship. Slytherins will do anything to protect the people they love. What will they do when their love is the Chosen One? Anything that they need to.

Honorable Mention: Draco/Apple

drapple

Of course, we can’t forget about Drapple! This wonderfully strange pairing started out as a joke and has now evolved into its own ship. Keep doing you, Drapple shippers.

Do you prefer Drarry or Druna? Did we miss your favorite ship? Let us know in the comments.
