See Daniel Radcliffe on Stage Without Traveling to London

Have you been searching for a way to magic yourself to London to catch Daniel Radcliffe’s upcoming theater run? As we reported earlier, Dan will be starring in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead at the Old Vic Theater starting February 25, 2017. While we can’t offer you a Nimbus or Floo powder, we may have found the next best thing.

National Theatre Live, which has broadcast select London stage productions around the world since 2009, will be at the Old Vic on April 20, 2017, for a live broadcast of the show. This is not a reworking of the play just for the cameras – you will see it just as if you were in the audience, and in some ways, it is almost better than being there.

Though each broadcast is filmed in front of a live audience in the theatre, cameras are carefully positioned throughout the auditorium to ensure that cinema audiences get the ‘best seat in the house’ view of each production. Where these cameras are placed is different for each broadcast, to make sure that cinema audiences enjoy the best possible experience every time.

While tickets and venues have not yet been announced, you can sign up for alerts here to make sure you get notified the minute the information is posted on the NTLive.com website. You can also look forward to seeing Macbeth with Rory Kinnear (Barry Fairbrother in The Casual Vacancy) in 2018.

Additionally, NT Live has encore showings of many past seasons’ stage productions:

Past broadcasts from the National Theatre have included Danny Boyle’s Frankenstein with Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller; War Horse; and Everyman with Chiwetel Ejiofor. Our biggest single broadcast to date is Hamlet with Benedict Cumberbatch at the Barbican, which has been seen by over 550,000 people.

If you’re lucky, a venue in your area may also show an encore of Man and Superman with Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort), The Deep Blue Sea or Medea with Helen McCrory (Narcissa Malfoy), Coriolanus with Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas), or Skylight with Bill Nighy (Minister Rufus Scrimgeour).

Will you be trying to get tickets, or will you be one of the lucky few who will actually be in the audience at the Old Vic Theater that night? If you have been to any of the NT Live broadcasts or know of any venues in your area, let us know in the comments below!
