by Sophie Reid · October 31, 2017

Perhaps you didn’t get a chance to watch Strike, starring Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger, when it aired, or maybe you just really want to watch the series again – well, there’s good news for you! Strike – The Cuckoo’s Calling will be available to own on DVD on November 27 from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

The DVD will retail at £10 and will include a behind-the-scenes featurette and will be available at all usual retailers and can be pre-ordered now.

The series first aired on BBC back in August, with Strike – The Silkworm following straight after the three-part installment. The series has already been announced to be returning next year, and the first two parts will air in the US next year.

Hopefully, Part 2 (The Silkworm) will follow shortly on DVD. Don’t worry; we’ll keep you updated on any news as we hear it.

STRIKE - THE CUCKOO’S CALLING

Hit show based on J.K. Rowling’s crime novels written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, out to own on DVD from 27th November 2017

Acclaimed new TV detective series based on J.K. Rowling’s best-selling crime novels written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, Strike - The Cuckoo’s Calling will be available to own on DVD from 27th November 2017, courtesy of Warner Bros Home Entertainment.

British actors Tom Burke as ‘Cormoran Strike’ and Holliday Grainger as ‘Robin Ellacott’ lead an all-star cast of acclaimed British actors, including Amber Anderson (The Riot Club, Black Mirror), Tara Fitzgerald (Death in Paradise, In The Club), Martin Shaw (Inspector George Gently) and Sian Phillips (Midsomer Murders, Under Milk Wood) for Part One of the major new BBC One series; Strike - The Cuckoo’s Calling.

Tom Burke, who most recently starred in BBC’s epic War & Peace as ‘Fedor Dolokhov’ and in The Musketeers as ‘Athos,’ is Strike, a war veteran turned private detective operating out of a tiny office in London’s Denmark Street. Though he’s wounded both physically and psychologically, Strike’s unique insight and his background as an SIB Investigator prove crucial when he begins to seek the truth surrounding the mysterious death of supermodel Lula Landry.

Holliday Grainger, who most recently starred in BBC’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover as Lady Constance Chatterley, plays Robin, Strike's assistant. Though she begins as a temporary secretary, managing Strike’s chaotic life, she soon becomes involved with his caseload and begins to see her true potential.

Strike - The Cuckoo’s Calling is executive produced by J.K. Rowling (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Casual Vacancy), Neil Blair (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Casual Vacancy), Ruth Kenley-Letts (The Casual Vacancy, The Hour) and Elizabeth Kilgarriff (for the BBC) and is based on a script by Ben Richards (The Tunnel: Sabotage, Spooks). Directed by Michael Keillor (Line of Duty, Critical) and produced by Jackie Larkin (Stella Days, Kings).

The Cuckoo’s Calling was published to critical acclaim in 2013 and went on to be a global bestseller, followed in 2014 by The Silkworm and Career of Evil in 2015. All three books were number one Sunday Times bestsellers in both hardback and paperback and Little, Brown has sold in total over four million copies worldwide across all editions.

Cormoran Strike is one of the most memorable and distinctive detectives in crime fiction today and Robert Galbraith is among the genre’s most celebrated writers, shortlisted for the prestigious CWA Gold Dagger in 2015 and the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year in 2016.
