A Hilarious Reunion for Daniel Radcliffe, Miriam Margolyes

by Brienne Green · January 14, 2020

It’s been nearly a decade since we last saw a Harry Potter cast assembled on the big screen. It’s little wonder, then, that we tend to get all warm and fuzzy inside whenever the various actors are reunited for any reason at all.

Such a reunion took place Friday on The Graham Norton Show as Daniel Radcliffe and Miriam Margolyes (Pomona Sprout) shared the couch with Radcliffe’s Endgame costar Alan Cumming and actor/writer Sharon Horgan. Judging from the comments made by both Radcliffe and Margolyes, the meeting was their first since last working together on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. Margolyes remarked Friday on how much Radcliffe had grown in her customary colorful style. You’ll just have to watch for yourself.

The two enjoyed a bit of nostalgia, with Margolyes noting that her character only appeared in the final film and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. “I should’ve been in all of them,” she asserted, turning to Radcliffe. “That was a grave oversight, and I’m holding you responsible.” The pair also confirmed to Norton that they are still widely recognized for those particular roles. Margolyes said she’s often associated with Professor Sprout even though she feels she’s changed significantly, and Radcliffe recounted an amusing experience with overzealous fans in Spain.

There'[ve] been lots of very odd moments. I was chased out of a science museum in Spain. It was sort of funny because everything was in Spanish there, and I couldn’t understand anything inside, so it was time to leave anyway.

However, Radcliffe’s funniest tale concerned an individual who most certainly did not recognize him as the man behind the Boy Who Lived. Watch the video above to hear Radcliffe describe his encounter with a kindly stranger who mistook him for a down-on-his-luck guy in need of a warm beverage.

Margolyes also told the incredible story associated with the discovery that her Dover, England, home – which she rents in her absence – had been serving as a drop point last year for millions of pounds’ worth of cocaine by drug smugglers. Radcliffe’s reaction is priceless.

Margolyes additionally appeared last week on This Morning, where she had another story to share: She apparently succeeded in annoying the Queen. Even Her Majesty has a shenanigans limit.

Another clip from the show saw Cumming discussing his first – and last – comic con experience, with comedic quips from Radcliffe and Margolyes in between.

And we’ll leave you on a high note with another of Norton’s trips back in time to review the Internet’s spotting of Radcliffe look-alikes throughout history.
