Win a Fairy-Tale Wedding and Sleep in Hagrid’s Hut

by Dora Bodrogi · May 4, 2020

Although a large number of weddings have had to be canceled or delayed due to COVID-19, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times. The United Kingdom’s picturesque fairy-tale hotel and venue, North Shire near Saltburn, Yorkshire, has announced a competition to win a free, luxury wedding worth £25,000 with access to its groundskeeper’s cottage, a.k.a. a real-life Hagrid’s hut, as accommodation for the big day. What’s more, a substantial proportion of the proceeds will go to hospitals fighting the pandemic.

Three lucky couples can schedule the ceremony as far in advance as 2022 with exclusive access for up to 150 guests to a whole host of amazing sites such as the Enchanted Barn, the hobbit hole, or the groundskeeper’s cottage. To make the day even more special, North Shire will provide a selection of feasts, drinks, a DJ, fireworks, and an on-site wedding coordinator to safeguard the smooth running of the wedding as expertly as an army of Aurors.

The owner of North Shire, Carol Cavendish, is very proud of the venue’s global fame:

Our venue is all about escapism and providing a fairy[-]tale experience. As we’ve seen so many couples seeing their wedding day dreams scuppered by the lockdown restrictions, we thought it would be great to offer them the chance to rekindle those dreams and plan a fairy[-]tale celebration once life returns to normal.

On top of this incredibly kind gesture, the competition will also help beat the pandemic because a large part of the proceeds will go to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and the University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton.

For an entrance fee of just £2, that’s not too shabby at all. To enter and for full details, visit North Shire’s website. While you await the results, which will be announced on August 31, why not check out a few Harry Potter-themed weddings for more ideas for the magical day?
