Dan Fogler May Have Hinted That Jacob Would Receive a Wand Back in 2019

In 2016, when the first Fantastic Beasts movie came out, the character of Jacob Kowalski instantly caught our attention. The Muggle played by the actor Dan Fogler would be the first one to present a deep and intricate connection with wizards and witches.

In Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Jacob is introduced as a man whose ambition is to open a bakery and live a peaceful life. Nonetheless, once Newt Scamander crosses his path, a turn of events leads them to several adventures. At the end of the movie, he not only is familiarized with the wizard community but also becomes an important figure in the fight against evil forces. In Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, his relationship with Queenie Goldstein plays an important part in the story: Their relationship is terminated, and she changes her alliances.

All these adventures will lead to something no Muggle has ever experienced as we saw in the trailer of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. The baker surprised us by, apparently, using an unexpected and much-desired item: a wand. But what if, three years ago, Fogler had already hinted that this would happen?

An anonymous tip from a MuggleNet reader reminded us that during a 2019 interview with Evanna Lynch, the actor was asked if Jacob feels jealous of his magical friends:

He would love to be able to do that stuff. J.K. talks about love being the biggest form of magic, and I feel like his heart is so huge. He is magic. And at some point, he’s going to be able to siphon that through something.

If we pay attention to Fogler’s speech, he clearly considers his words before finishing the sentence. It may indicate that he already knew what would happen to Jacob in the upcoming movie. But a wand is not an artifact that Muggles tend to be able to possess. Fans of the franchise are aware that only wizards and witches use wands to channel their magic. Does it mean that Jacob has magical blood? Or is this another one of Dumbledore’s clever maneuvers?
