David Yates to Host Master Class at Italy’s National Museum of Cinema

Fantastic Beasts and half of the Harry Potter films director David Yates is receiving quite the tribute at the National Museum of Cinema in Italy.

According to the director of the museum, Domenico De Gaetano, this highly anticipated master class will allow Yates to reminisce about the most important stages of his career. It will explore everything from his start in television to his latest projects – including Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.

At the end of this event, Yates will accept the Star of the Mole Award as recognition for his contribution to cinema. Yates is extremely honored by this experience.

I am very honored and excited to go to Turin to share my cinematic experience in the magnificent Mole Antonelliana, a magical[-]looking place that would be the ideal location for one of my films. I cannot imagine a more evocative and stimulating space to talk about my career as a film-maker [sic], from the modest beginnings of Super8mm [sic] short films, through TV dramas for the BBC, to finally realize the dream of making films for a global audience.

Domenico De Gaetano mentioned that Yates is “the best translator in images of [the] Wizarding World complex, dark and elegant at the same time, sober and playful.” This master class event will take place on May 24 in the Temple Hall of the Mole Antonelliana and later that evening at Cinema Massimo. Yates will lead with the vision of the third installment of the Fantastic Beasts films, and it will most certainly be a night to remember.
