Which Owl Would You Take Home from Eeylops Owl Emporium?

by Georgia Murgatroyd · January 31, 2023

Owls are an extremely popular pet that students can take with them to Hogwarts — and let’s be real: We’ve all wanted our very own owl just like Hedwig. This old-fashioned, magazine-style quiz will decide, based on your personality, which type of owl you would choose from Eeylops Owl Emporium to take to Hogwarts with you. To play, keep track of the letters that match your answers, and when you’re finished with the quiz, whichever letter you have most of will match a result.

Which of these sounds like your ideal situation at Hogwarts?

A – Studying in the corner of the library, with no distractions whatsoever
B – Cozied up in the Three Broomsticks on a visit to Hogsmeade with your best friends
C – Pulling pranks in the corridors with Peeves and the Weasley twins

When you go to Diagon Alley to pick up your annual school supplies, which store are you checking out first?

A – Flourish and Blotts, obviously, to check out all of the other books you could take with you to Hogwarts
B – Quality Quidditch Supplies, to see what the latest broom looks like — after all, Quidditch is the best thing about Hogwarts
C – Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, the only shop in Diagon Alley that interests you — you can stock up on ideas for pranks for the term

You find yourself in the Forbidden Forest late at night. What do you do?

A – Stay calm, locate where you are, and try to get back out while staying safe and not drawing any attention to yourself
B – Immediately shout for help — what else would you do when lost in a dark forest with killer creatures at night?
C – Go further into the forest — an opportunity like this doesn’t always present itself, so why not explore?

The Marauder’s Map ends up in your hands one day. What do you do with it?

A – Hand it in to your Head of House because it breaches the school rules, and you don’t want to be caught with it in your possession
B – Keep it for a little while longer and use it to spy on your friends, enemies, and teachers
C – Hide it and tell nobody so that it is most definitely yours — you can use it to sneak around Hogwarts after curfew

Professor Flitwick set you some homework today in Charms that’s due next weekend. When do you do it?

A – When you get back to the common room — it’s much easier to do it right away and then it’s done
B – Over the weekend, after Quidditch, of course — Quidditch always takes priority
C – Never — what’s the point, when you’ll go through it in class anyway?

You head up to the Owlery to post a letter home. Which owl stands out the most to you?

A – The barn owl — it’s the most popular pet of choice at Hogwarts, and they are extremely intelligent
B – The snowy owl — as well as looking extremely similar to Hedwig, this owl is the only white owl in the Owlery
C – The tawny owl — it’s highly territorial but will definitely get your post from A to B quickly

Mostly As: Barn Owl

If you went to Eeylops Owl Emporium, you’d definitely pick a barn owl. They’re the most popular of all the owls. In fact, when we think of an owl, this is typically the species everyone focuses on.

Mostly Bs: Snowy Owl

Your owl of choice is just like Hedwig! Hedwig is a beautiful snowy owl. These owls are the only mainly white bird in the owl family and are also known as the polar or Arctic owl.

Mostly Cs: Tawny Owl

The tawny owl would stand out most to you in the Eeylops Owl Emporium. Tawny owls are nocturnal and extremely noisy — they create more noise than any other owl during October and November.

Don’t you just love an old-fashioned personality quiz? They are a lot of fun! Don’t forget to let us know which owl you’re taking to Hogwarts with you — tell us in the comment section below.
